For the ultimate in productivity we code primarily in Borland language
implementations:
Borland C++, C++ Builder and Delphi. We've been working with Borland
tools since the release of Turbo Pascal in 1983. We already do high
performance. Now that Kylix
is available we're well set for high cross-platform
performance.
Alstonlabs.com has been involved with consumer oriented software
since the early 1990's, some of which is self-published. We've also
provided code for retail names as diverse as Knowledge Adventure,
Arts & Letters, Memorex, and Packard Bell.
Our self published consumer titles rank among the most
popular on the internet in their class and are awarded the highest
possible ratings by both professional reviewers and consumers. (This
is not mere hype; we can prove it.) We
continue to develop consumer products and to date have well over one
hundred thousand users via shareware and retail marketing.
Industrial/corporate customers over the years have included name brand
and Fortune 500 companies such as IBM, Ford, Motorola, and AT&T, as
well as smaller but just as recognizable corporate names.
Spring 2002 UPDATE: In conjunction with Custom
Computer Services in Sioux Falls, SD, we've completed a
3D visualisation and modeling tool for building construction and pricing
for Reaves Buildings, a
supplier of construction industry solutions. This software allows users
to easily construct complex buildings on screen in mere minutes. Users can then
look at them in full 3D, toggling parameters as needed (e.g. insulation,
siding, foundations, etc. can be shown or not as needed.) The system
also prices the building accordingly for accurate quotes. This system
is a true breakthrough in the industry, accomplishing in minutes what
used to take days. The 3D portion was developed with
FastGraph, a fast and simple alternative to DirectX, allowing easy
installation and operation on even slow machines. 3D screen shots are
available at the FastGraph site.
Here's a set of utilities that cover a wide variety of everyday needs for
those who want or need a bit more than what Windows and/or typical consumer
software provides. Includes cool and effective things that programmers, Q/A
engineers, and other professionals can use.
From graphics to internet-related to realtime assembler, the following
examples are chosen to illustrate problem solving technique as well as
act as a primer in certain technologies. Javascript examples are shown
to illustrate how effective browser based scripts can be with interactivity
and decision making and yet not demand bandwidth.
Examples include
Transferring data and getting it in and out of data storage can now be
automated and simplified, thanks to XML and State Machines.
Moreover, this multi-tier approach is both platform independant and
able to load/unload data simultaneously to/from multiple back end
storage systems. If your business handles any data transfer volume at
all, please have a look at this robust, field proven automation solution.
This is a "reprint" of an article we wrote for
Unofficial Newsletter for Delphi Users,
a Delphi webzine. In this article we show how to do live video
capture in Delphi and write the video to an AVI format file. This
appeared in issue #21 (Spring 1997) and includes the Delphi 1.0
source code.

Alstonlabs.com has over 20 years experience in software development
ranging from industrial robotics and machine vision to retail games
to internet to business. On these
pages are code examples covering a variety of problems we've solved
and articles on systems design and development. How problems are
solved and the long term ramifications of the solutions are more
important than the mere fact that they were solved.
The bottom line?
Alstonlabs.com has a proven track record in software
engineering.

"What's particularly useful to me as a sysad
is your notebook (only intelligent windows based programmer's editor I've
seen outside of the one in the Borland suite, and this one is better, being
generalized.) An editor with SQL functions is what everyone's been looking
for. Well, maybe not everyone, but a lot of Systems Administrators with
orders to manipulate columns in windows and like it."
