KillData
Screenshot

Purpose:

KillData kills files dead. On Contact.

This is a utility that you don't need often, but when you need it, you really need it.

Examples:

  1. Copying pictures etc. off of a CD will leaves the attributes sitting at "RA" (read-only archive) in your hard drive folder. When you go to delete the folder, each and every file with RA will cause the Windows Explorer or File Manager to ask whether you want to delete this important "system" file. Good luck if you copied 500 files. It's your time.

KillData will wipe out ALL of the files of the target spec throughout the directory tree specified (i.e. it will delete files in subfolders) whether they are marked "read only" or not. In just a few seconds.

  2. You're finished with a major project and have files scattered in some two dozen directories starting at c:\my important project. You've burned a CD and copied the entire structure to the network. Now you want to wipe the entire project to free up some room.

KillData set to the *.* filespec will take care of that in a few seconds.

Killdata optionally creates a text file report when used so that you know exactly what files were killed and where.

USE KILLDATA WITH CARE. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE YOU CREATE IF YOU WIPE OUT THE WRONG FILES.
